Waterproof Disposable Camera

By

If you don't want to bare the expense of a waterproof digital camera, but would like to take pictures of your water-bound adventures, then a waterproof disposable camera is a workable option.  These camera are intended for a single use, or at least only one roll of film, and have a variety of depth ratings depending on which one you choose.  If you don't intend to take underwater pictures very frequently, then a disposable underwater camera is probably the best way to go.  However, if you do intend to take snapshots of your vacations in or around the ocean, in rainy locales, or anywhere you might encounter inclement weather, you might want to invest in a waterproof digital, or even an underwater video camera.

If you've decided that the best option for you is a disposable, then you've still got a nice range of cameras to choose from made by the top companies in the industry.

Disposable Waterproof Camera

The reason why many people opt for the disposable camera is that they are quite cheap compared to purchasing a new digital camera specifically for underwater use.  However, with a little foresight, you could simply include waterproofness in the features you require of your next digital camera.  That being said, as mentioned above, there are a variety of options when it comes to disposables.  The most important thing you probably want to pay attention to is depth rating.  Some cameras are only rated for up to 10 ft. while others will be labeled for 60 or more meters.  You'll want to base a majority of your decision on that simple specification.

Limitations of Waterproof Disposable Cameras

As with any film camera, there are limitations involved with such a camera. One of these limitations is the amount of pictures you can take with your camera - often limited to 27 exposures. I don't know about you, but I typically come up from a good reef dive with 100 or more pictures. Granted, many of those pictures aren't stellar, but there are always some real gems in there that I might not have caught if I was limited to 27 pictures.

The second biggest limitation is the simple inconvenience of having to get film developed. With a waterproof digital camera, you only have to worry about having those pictures you really find worthy developed, if you so choose. Disposable cameras are also kind of wasteful. You're using these things one time and then tossing the camera, and the film in a dump somewhere.

Unfortunately, there isn't an option if you're looking for a disposable digital waterproof camera. The closest thing you get to the functionality of a "digital camera" with a disposable is the ability to have your film developed onto a CD so you can upload the photos to your computer. This is still a limiting option, and doesn't really circumvent any of the issues above.

In light of these limitations, investing in a rugged waterproof digital camera really shouldn't seem like a bad investment.

Amazing Underwater Photography

A waterproof digital camera is certainly one route to take when looking to take pictures in and around water. A better option, if you have the cash, is a waterproof digital camera. They are rugged, waterproof, and quite versatile in their usability. If you are in the market for a new digital camera, have a look at the rugged digital cameras available, and see if they fit within your budget and potential usage.
